Inauguration Cartoons

One of my favorite cartoons from this website today. Was it just me, or was the inauguration a tad bit of a let-down? I mean, its great that we have overcome such issues as race, etc. but how big of a deal do we have to make about the guy's race for crying out loud?!

I don't get too much into politics, but I have been kinda bugged by hearing every two seconds about how much this thing IS about race ever since the election. Even though the point, in my opinion, is supposed to be that we have come so far as a nation to overlook the color of a man's skin, and freedom and justice for all men. Ever since the election it has been about nothing but Obama's skin color! Don't get me wrong, I agree that history has been made, and that we really have come far as a nation. I just wish that more could be focused on him and his qualifications, what he is going to do to keep us safe from terrorists, or help rebound our economy without putting us further into a problem.

I am excited for changes, and I am excited for freshness--even though he wasn't my first choice for President. Let's hope that expectations aren't so high that Obama is looked at as a "God." It's easy to say changes need to be made coming into the situation from an outside perspective. It's another to actually do it! Drop the race card and get on with business!

yeah, I was impressed that HE never brought up race as part of his campaign. It would be nice for the media to get over it already. (yeah, it is great and all, but SERIOUSLY.) That isn't why he was elected.

The more they talk about race, the more it divides us, and actually creates more racism. Why don't we just refer to people as 'person A' and 'person B'?

Watching that inauguration is not high on my priority list. I DO like that cartoon......

I hear where your coming from, the media CAN overdo it. I also can see, however, for people of color that this is a really momentous time. I've never been prejudiced against because of the color of my skin and I could never know how those who have feel about someone their race finally breaking the BIGGEST racial boundary ever. This IS a first in history and I for one think it's pretty cool I got to witness it. It really should be a cool thing for EVERYONE that we as a people have finally come this far.

I love that so many people were excited about today because at this time in our country we all NEED a little optimism. So really I don't care if they are happy because of the president's race, or party, or whatever else. It certainly can't hurt to feel good about our country's future for a change.

Really the only ones that bother me are the people who are still sitting on the sidelines pouting about everything because Obama was not their candidate of choice. There's nothing like hating someone before they even screw up.

Word. I respect, but at the same time gag at the montages created about people who remember Martin Luther King, Jr., and are comparing him to Obama. I wonder if the White House (racist house!) will do anything special for February, being Black History Month.

Well said. I am seriously sick of all the biased media making it into a bigger deal than it is. I am totally willing to give Obama a chance, and I seriously hope he changes my mind about him enough that I choose to vote for him in 4 years. But, I do think that he has people setting their expectations way too high. Who can even live up to all that? Guess we'll have to see what happens.
